Updated: . Applies to Hangman for Kids version 2.0 and later on iPhone and iPad (App Store) and on Android (Google Play).
Hangman for Kids is a word-guessing game for children practising English, made by PATCELL SOFTWARE COMPANY LIMITED (“Patcell”). This policy describes what the game does with information. It applies to Hangman for Kids only; other Patcell apps have their own policies. Versions 1.4.4 and earlier (2015–2016) were built by a previous developer with a different advertising setup; this policy describes version 2.0 and later.
Summary
Hangman for Kids has no accounts and no sign-in of its own; progress is kept on the device. The game never asks for a name, email address, age, photo or location. Links that leave the app (website, email), sharing a result, the Shop, every purchase and every App Store link are behind a parental gate. Patcell does not sell personal information and does not use analytics or tracking of its own. The mobile game shows non-personalized Google AdMob ads limited to content suitable for children, as described below. Optional one-time purchases in the Shop: Remove Ads (turns off full-screen ads and makes hints, picture hints and Continue free), word packs with extra themes, and a Looks Pack with extra looks. From version 2.1 the game can also show other games made by Patcell, as described below.
Data on your device
To work, the game saves on your device: stars for each word and Tricky Fox step, Word of the Day results and streak, play statistics (words played, wins, hints used, play time), settings (sound effects, music, haptics, reduce motion), whether the tutorial was completed and any unfinished word so you can continue later. The word book is built from the words you solved. This information stays on your device; Patcell cannot access it.
Settings → Clear data on this device deletes all of it. Uninstalling the game also removes it. Your device's own backup service may keep or restore app data according to your Apple or Google backup settings.
Parental gate
Before the game opens a website, an email message, the share sheet, the Shop, an App Store page or a purchase, a grown-up must answer a multiplication question written in words (every purchase and every App Store page asks again). From version 2.2 the game is in the App Store Kids Category. Purchases are also confirmed by the App Store or Google Play with the account holder's password or approval (Ask to Buy on Apple devices, Family Link purchase approval on Android).
Game Center leaderboard (optional, iPhone and iPad only)
Hangman for Kids does not ask for an age and offers no account of its own, because the game is made for children. If the iPhone or iPad is already signed in to Apple's Game Center, the game submits the player's total number of stars to the Hangman for Kids leaderboard and can read it back. Apple shows those scores with the Game Center nickname according to the player's Game Center settings, and parents can limit or turn off Game Center with Screen Time. Game Center is provided by Apple under its own terms and privacy policy; Patcell's servers do not receive this data. Per-word stars, the word book, Word of the Day results, statistics and settings stay on the device and are never sent anywhere.
Advertising and privacy choices
The mobile game uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). A full-screen ad may appear between words, never during play: none after the first 3 finished words, then at most once every 2 words and at least 3 minutes after the previous full-screen ad. A player can choose to watch a rewarded ad for a hint, for a picture hint after the 10 free ones each day (version 2.2 and later), or to Continue a lost word; this is always optional. If no ad is available, the game continues normally. No ad is shown when the app opens. Development and test builds use Google's sample ads.
Every ad request asks for non-personalized ads, is tagged for child-directed treatment and for users under the age of consent, and is limited to a General (G) content rating. The game does not ask for Apple's tracking permission and does not use the IDFA; on Android the app does not request the Advertising ID permission. Google's SDK may still process network information such as IP address (and approximate location derived from it), app and device information, ad views and interactions, and diagnostic data to deliver and measure ads, maintain the service and prevent fraud. Where Google's consent service requires it (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), a consent message appears and Settings shows Privacy choices. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Promotions for other Patcell games (version 2.1 and later)
Some of the ad breaks described above may show another game made by Patcell instead of a Google ad (labelled “Ad · From Patcell”, never more than once a day), and Settings has a “More games” list. Only Patcell games rated for all ages are shown. The list of games, with their pictures and texts, comes with the app (and, in newer versions, may be refreshed from patcell.com as described below); no ad network is involved and nothing about the player is sent to Patcell or anyone else. Remove Ads turns these full-screen promotions off too; the More games list stays available.
On Android, the game checks on this device whether other Patcell games are already installed, so it does not promote them again. The check uses only a fixed list of Patcell games, happens on the device, and its result is not sent anywhere or stored as a list of apps. On iPhone and iPad the game does not check which apps are installed; a player can tap “I already have this game” to stop seeing a game. Tapping the store button opens that game's page in the App Store (shown inside the game on iPhone and iPad) or on Google Play, with a campaign tag that names the promotion and contains no personal data. Downloading a game from the store follows the store's own account and family settings.
Updated promotion list. In updates released after 23 October 2026, the list of Patcell games and apps that can be promoted, with their pictures and short texts, may be refreshed from patcell.com (about once a day, without a new app version). This is a plain download of a public file signed by Patcell: no account, identifier or personal data is sent. Like any web request, the website host (Cloudflare) receives the device’s IP address to deliver the file; Patcell does not use it to identify anyone. The game also checks, on the device only, which of these games and apps are sold in your country (the App Store country on iPhone and iPad; the time zone and language settings on Android) so it does not show one you cannot download; this is not sent anywhere. Without a connection the game keeps using the list it already has. Promotions stay limited to Patcell’s own games and apps rated for the player’s age.
In-app purchases (Shop)
Hangman for Kids offers optional, one-time purchases in its Shop, which only a grown-up can open: Remove Ads (USD 1.99 price tier from 27 October 2026, earlier USD 0.99) and, from version 2.2 on the App Store, Word Pack: Phonics & Spelling, Word Pack: School Subjects, All Word Packs and Looks Pack (the local price of each is shown by the store). The payment is processed by the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google); Patcell never receives payment details. The app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) to verify and restore purchases. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID generated by its SDK, the purchase history and receipt for this app, and basic device and app information, used only to unlock and restore what was bought, never for tracking or advertising. Restore everything with Restore purchases in Settings or in the Shop. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Permissions and children
The game is designed for children. It does not request access to contacts, photos, camera, microphone or location, and it does not ask for a name. Sharing a Word of the Day result sends only a short text (day number, stars and wrong guesses) through the device's share sheet, after the parental gate. Because there are no accounts, Patcell holds no profile of any player. A parent or guardian with any question about a child's data can contact us; data on the device is removed with Settings → Clear data on this device.
Future versions
If a later version changes how data is processed, we will update this page, the date above and the store privacy disclosures before that version is released.
