A piece fits perfectly. A row disappears. Suddenly there is room to breathe again.

But where will the next piece go?

That small question is the heart of Linebox, our 10×10 block puzzle rebuilt from the ground up. Drag a shape onto the board, complete a row or column, and watch it clear. The rule is simple; the space you leave behind is where the thinking begins.

Linebox started in 2015. Today, we have brought it back with four distinct modes, a new visual character and more ways to turn a few spare minutes into a satisfying puzzle.

Classic: leave yourself somewhere to go

Classic is the endless version of that familiar challenge. Place pieces, clear full rows or columns and keep the board open. Bigger pieces arrive as your score grows, making the spaces between your blocks increasingly important.

A tiny gap may look harmless until the piece you need cannot fit. A placement that scores immediately might be less useful than one that leaves a wide, flexible space for later. Try looking at all the available pieces before choosing your first move: sometimes their order makes the difference.

There is no need to learn a complicated control system. Drag, inspect and release. Linebox shows a landing shadow and the lines that will clear before you let go, so you can see what your choice is about to do.

Cascade: think about what happens after the clear

Cascade changes the question. Pieces drop to the bottom, and blocks fall into gaps after clears. That movement can create chain clears, turning one placement into a sequence of changes.

Meanwhile, new rows rise from below. Keeping the stack low matters, and a gap has a different meaning when the blocks above it can fall. You are reading a board that will rearrange itself after your move.

If Classic is about preserving useful space, Cascade invites you to picture the next shape of the board. Where will these blocks land? What might line up once that row is gone?

Puzzle: a fixed challenge with a clear destination

Want a goal you can finish? Puzzle mode offers 120 levels, each with a fixed board and a fixed set of pieces. Your task is to clear every gem and earn up to three stars.

The supplied pieces give each level a particular problem to solve. You can think about the whole arrangement rather than simply surviving the next arrival. A gem near a crowded section may require you to prepare another clear first.

It is a different rhythm: inspect the board, try an idea and look for a more efficient solution. The next level gives you a fresh arrangement to understand.

Blitz: make every clear buy another chance

Blitz starts with 90 seconds on the clock. Every line you clear adds time, making a successful move valuable in two ways: it opens the board and keeps the run going.

The same placement rules now ask for quicker decisions. A clear you can make now may be more useful than an ambitious setup that takes too long. It is a lively alternative when you want a short burst of concentration.

A Swap, a combo and a little more room

When the tray does not fit your plan, Swap draws three new pieces. Combos multiply points and earn Swaps back, connecting good clears with another opportunity to keep playing. When no piece fits and no Swap remains, the run ends.

A Swap is useful, but open space still matters. Before using one, check whether changing the order of your placements could give the current pieces somewhere to go.

Linebox also offers six tile palettes, unlocked by clearing lines. Its paper-toned background, bold outlines and geometric motifs give the board a print-inspired look. Piece families have their own patterns as well as colours, helping you distinguish them by more than colour alone.

A puzzle that fits your day

You can play offline without creating an account. Online leaderboards use Game Center on Apple devices and Google Play Games on Android; connected services, ads and purchases require internet access.

The game is free to play with advertising. A one-time, restorable Remove Ads purchase is available; check your store for current local pricing.

Start with Classic if you want to learn the board. Choose Puzzle for a goal to solve, Cascade for chain reactions or Blitz for the clock. You do not need to pick a favourite before your first move.
